The
FDA announced Wednesday, August 8, 2001 that Bayer Pharmaceutical
Division is withdrawing the prescription drug BAYCOL (cerivastatin)
from the U.S. market. BAYCOL, which was prescribed for reducing
high cholesterol levels, has been linked to causing severe muscle
damage in users and even death. If you are taking BAYCOL, the FDA
recommends that you STOP IMMEDIATELY and call your doctor to prescribe
another medication.
